Prep

Book that flight! The earlier you book, the better price you will find. Just like anything else, it’s worse if you wait until the last minute. If you plan on going out of the country make sure you get your passport or renew if yours is expired. Processing times are lengthy, unless you plan on paying for expedited service. Allow 6-8 weeks for routine or 2-3 weeks for expedited. Don’t forget to get that you can pick up luggage tags and passport holders at Mail Center USA located at 3636 S. Alameda St.

Another way to prep for your journey is to make sure you know how you will be getting to the airport. You can have someone drop you off, take your own car and pay for extended parking, or take a taxi or ride sharing company (Uber, Lyft, etc.). Give yourself a 2-hour window before your flight takes off to arrive at the airport. You need plenty of time to check-in and get through security. For security and additional travel tips, check out the Corpus Christi International Airport website and the TSA Checklist.

Carry-On

Dimensions and size vary by airline, so your safest bet is to double check with them. However, the general size is 9 in. x 14 in. x 22 in. (22 cm. x 35 cm. x 56 cm.).

Airport Arrival

Once you arrive at the airport, your first destination should be your airline’s counter or check-in kiosk. Check any bags you have (see your airline for any fees associated with checking a bag) and print your boarding passes. This would be a good time to double check your bag to make sure you aren’t violating any TSA guidelines.

Then, it’s time to head to security. Remember to wear shoes that you can easily take off, this will make is much quicker to get through. You definitely do not want to miss your flight trying to lace up your shoes! Be sure to have your valid ID and boarding pass ready.

After you get through security, find your gate.

You Made It!

You finally made it on to the plane, the rest of your trip is easy and on your return just repeat. Have fun and be safe!
